Mobile-8 Cuts rates, Extend Network
PT Mobile-8 Telecom, an Indonesian mobile company that replaced its president after failing to meet a subscriber target, is cutting its tariffs and extending wireless network as it aims to almost double users this year. The company this week said its subscribers can speak amongst themselves for an unlimited time for Rp 540 a call. Mobile-8, whose stock has plunged 52% this year, will spend about 11% of its sales on marketing its Fren brand. Mobile-8 plans to focus on expanding its network in Jakarta and capital cities of provinces of North Sumatra, South Sulawesi and South Sumatra. (JakartaPost-pg14)
