Newcomer Saudi Telecom To Be ‘aggressive’ In Indonesia Service

Saudi Telecom Co., the largest Arab phone company, said its Indonesian unit will be “aggressive” in building its network in Asia’s third most populated nation, as competition intensifies at home. PT Natrindo Telepon Seluler, Saudi Telecom’s unit and the third mobile phone operator to begin services in Indonesia this year will double the number of transmission stations to more than 8000 by 2010 from an estimated 3700 by the end of 2008. The Indonesian unit of Saudi Telecom plans to spend a total of US$1 billion this year to buy infrastructure, expand the network and invest in operations. (Jakartapost-pg14)
