Indosat Q1 Profit Up 27%

PT Indosat Indonesia’s second biggest phone company said first quarter profit rose 27 percent on

an increase in subscribers. The shares advanced. Net income climbed Rp 613.9 billion (US$66

million), or Rp 113 a share, from Rp 483.9 billion, or Rp 89 a year earlier, the Jakarta based

company said in a statement today. Sales gained 13% to Rp 4.27 trillion. Indonesian phone

companies are expanding their networks to add subscribers and provide better call quality as they
